We often fail to grasp the full extent of the sacrifice Jesus, our Lord and Master, endured on the cross. If we consider only the physical suffering, we won’t fully comprehend the immense penalty Christ paid for us.
He bore all sin, past and future, for it is written that Christ Jesus was slain “before” the creation of the world.
Jesus Christ experienced an unparalleled death for all humanity, from the beginning of time until its end, when the Lord will break the seven seals on the Book of Life. He alone is worthy to open this book. Why?
Because He was the only one who was obedient, even to death, in complete submission to the Father’s will.
The BLOOD OF JESUS is a life-giving force beyond human understanding. Many will die without receiving the Life it offers. His Blood has the power to cure any disease and redeem the lost.
As the great physician, He entered a dying world. Only His Blood can restore, heal, cleanse, deliver, restore sight, make whole, and cure the sin-infected soul. This is the life-giving Blood.
This Blood speaks. It embodies the immeasurable depth of God’s love for humanity. Love, without sufficient tangible proof, is incomplete. Such a profound emotion as love cannot remain confined within the heart.
It will break free, venture into new territories, find the destitute, the outcasts, and the rejected. It will elevate, foster compassion, and liberate.
Jesus said, “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own.” Our Lord declared, “I have authority to lay down my life and authority to take it up again.”
Sinlessness became sin and bore the ultimate penalty. Just as the bronze serpent was raised by Moses in the wilderness, so Jesus is lifted up. Whoever looks upon Him in His sinless perfection will not die but will have the Light of Life.
Jesus Christ is humanity’s Ultimate Hero. He accomplished what was necessary for a Hero to do.
He died, for you and me!
HEROES DIE!
A hero is an individual who believes so deeply in a cause or virtue that nothing can deter them from their passion, even if it requires the ultimate sacrifice—their life.
The title of “hero” comes with a price: one must be willing to die for the cause. Heroes possess an unwavering tenacity to persevere, regardless of the cost.
Jesus Christ exemplified this heroism by taking upon Himself the entirety of God’s wrath, sparing us from it. He declared “it is finished” after bearing the full burden on our behalf.
God encapsulated all of time, with every sin from the beginning to the end, and Jesus died for each one, from the first sin of Adam to the final moments of Revelation.
Heroes hold such a firm belief in their cause that they are willing to give everything, even their lives, for it.
We should embrace our own crosses daily, dying to the flesh to become heroes in our own right. By doing so, we remove the barriers of the flesh, allowing the Holy Spirit to work freely in and through our lives on earth.
“HEROES DIE”
These words resonate as an anthem of ultimate surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ, whose footsteps we are called to follow. This is not to suggest a curse, for it is written: “Cursed is he who hangs on a tree.”
Jesus, suspended on the cross, brought salvation to a sinner beside Him. This individual, condemned by the law of the time, was guilty of treason—a sin deserving of death. Yet, in that moment on the cross, this sinner died and secured eternal life thereafter.
The concept of bearing one’s cross is not a singular event, but rather a continuous, daily commitment. The scriptures emphasize that we should take up our crosses daily. The emphasis on “should” indicates that this is a voluntary act, not an obligation. You are not compelled to do so, but the essence of the Gospel is that you will receive divine assistance in carrying it, as Christ has already borne it for all of us.
While I celebrate the positive transformations that occur at the pulpit and rejoice in them, it is important to recognize that initial salvation is just the beginning. To fully embody and express Christ in your life, a deeper journey is required.
If the cross you are carrying feels overwhelmingly heavy and exceeds the grace you have been given, it may be that you are attempting to bear someone else’s burden. Remember, His grace is sufficient for you, and it has been provided in abundance. The Lord will never assign you a cross heavier than you can manage. If you find that your cross surpasses your God-given capacity, it is likely not yours to carry. Set it down and embrace your own cross.
