THE BREATH OF GOD

Ruach is a Hebrew word that means “breath,” “wind,” or “spirit,” often referring to the breath of life given by God, the Holy Spirit, or the inner human spirit. Its specific meaning depends on the context, as it can refer to a literal breeze, a person’s disposition, or the divine force that sustains and empowers.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7.

So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. John 20:21.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:15-17.

Jesus had a discussion with Nicodemus and said: Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:7-8.

There is much debate regarding whether we are a spirit or a soul. There is a certain doctrine out there where people actually believe we are a spirit, which is ultimately incorrect. You are a soul with a spirit in a body or an earthen vessel.

When we die, our physical body decays and returns to the earth; it is your soul that is of utter importance here. Look beyond the corruptible flesh, yes, on the last day we shall arise from the grave, but in the meanwhile, you are safely with the Lord in Heaven, for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

God formed us from the earth (ground) and breathed into the nostrils of Adam, and he, “Adam,” became a living soul, not a spirit. As noted in the above scripture, before the Lord Jesus departed, He breathed upon them and said: “Receive ye the Holy Spirit”.

The most sought-after single experience every Christian should aspire to is the baptism of the Spirit of God. It is not enough just to verbally confess the Lord Jesus as Lord in your life; if this is where it stops for you, then you are missing out on so, so much more.

Have you ever encountered the Ruach of God? More plainly put, have you ever experienced the tangible presence of God? You should. There is a multi-faceted approach to our Christian life, aptly, the Spirit and the Word.

If you have just the Word, you will puff up; if you have just the Spirit, you will blow up, but if you have both, you will “grow up”.

How can we receive more of the presence or Anointing of God in our lives? You need to seek God, and God will give you His Spirit if you ask Him. The Lord Jesus said, “You have not because you ask not.”

And then add,

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Matthew 7:11.

There is so much more to the Christian life than originally anticipated. You can experience the manifest presence of God, now, in this moment. The Word, who is the Lord Jesus Christ, is faithful and just and wants to have an intimate relationship with you.

There is so much more to the Christian walk than originally anticipated.

You can walk in a measure of God’s presence, now, in this moment. This should excite your senses.

God is not dead; He is pretty much alive and well and seeks an intimate relationship with you if you are willing. Jesus said: “I do not leave you comfortless. It is then not sufficient just to be saved; you can walk in a measure of God’s presence.

Do you know what the Shekinah presence of God is? In essence, you walk in a measure of the Holy Spirit constantly. But I have to add, there is a price to pay, and one needs to walk upright before God. God wants to give you His Spirit; all you need to do is ask Him. God did not leave us orphans or comfortless, but we have access to God through the Holy Spirit.

We serve the triune God, which is essentially three parts making up a whole: “Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three in One”.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26.

There was a divine plan at work when God created us, but because of man’s rebellion, they lost the Shekinah presence of God. But God had a restoration plan in place and ultimately would cost God His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The very same Ruach or Breath of God that Adam lost was restored to mankind. He is with us, in this moment, in this time, and God wants to give you His Spirit if you ask Him. You are just so precious to God; there is much more to the Christian life, and you can walk in a measure of God’s Spirit. God has made provision for us to dwell in His presence.

As we mature in Spirit, we will more clearly identify with the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives, which is “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

So to make it clearer, Adam and Eve were clothed in the Shekinah of God. When they sinned, they realized they were naked indeed, and they tried to cover their nakedness. They were expelled from the Garden of Eden. God’s ultimate plan is and was to restore His Spirit unto us, and I can with great joy say to you, God has made provisions for us to experience the Holy Spirit tangibly.

God loves you intensely, and He wants to give you His Spirit, the Holy Spirit. We need the Holy Spirit friends in our daily living, not just on Sundays but every other day of the week for many a reason, in guidance and wisdom in our decision making, etc. When we made the Lord Jesus our Lord, it was the first initial step, but there is just so much more to aspire for in our Christian walk daily. If you mean business with God, then He will freely give you the Holy Spirit.
